What is NAET?

NAET®, which stands for Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination  Technique, was discovered by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad in  November of 1983.  It is a non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to alleviate allergies of all types. It uses a combination of testing and treatment procedures from acupuncture/acupressure, nutritional, kinesiological, chiropractic, and allopathic disciplines of medicine.

 How does NAET work?

Kinesiological muscle response testing (MRT) is used to determine the allergic substance, or allergen, causing the allergic reaction. Once the allergen has been identified, a technique consisting of spinal stimulation and than Acupuncture or stimulation of specific Acupressure points is used to desensitize the patient to the allergen. The treatment essentially reprograms the brain and nervous system to no longer react to the treated allergen. Once the body accepts reprogramming, it heals itself.

How many treatments are needed?

Testing will allow your acupuncturist to identify the number of allergens that need to be treated. One allergen is treated at a time and usually a single treatment clears each allergen. If you are not severely immune deficient, you may need just one treatment to desensitize one allergen. Some patients require only a few treatments. Persons with a mild to moderate number of allergens may require a longer course of treatment, and it may take 15-20 office visits.

HOW IS NAET TREATMENT DIFFERENT FROM WESTERN MEDICAL?

Western medicine attributes allergies to an over-reactive immune system where a person suffering from allergies exhibits a high sensitivity to substances that are often harmless to most individuals. Western medical treatment involves the use of antihistamines or steroids to control allergic symptoms. This approach mainly gives symptomatic relief but does not correct the root cause of the problem and there are often side effects associated with their use.

NAET views allergies from a holistic view based on Chinese theory which sees an allergic response as an irregular energetic flow of Qi (pronounced “Chee”), energy, within the Chinese Acupuncture Channel pathways in the body, interfering with normal nervous system communication. NAET treats the cause of allergies by reprogramming the body’s response to the identified allergen.
